What are your thoughts on DGP/AGQ funds?

November 18, 2011, 12:00 PM Przemysław Radomski , CFA

It has been suggested that the leveraged aspects of DGP/AGQ funds make them suitable only for cycle trading, i.e. very short terms of a week or less. What are your thoughts on this? And congratulations for hitting the nail on the head over the past couple weeks throughout a very tumultuous situation.

Thank you for your kind words - we appreciate that.

As far as DGP and AGQ (2x leverage long ETNs) are concerned, yes, they are much more suitable for short term trades than long term ones. We do not recommend using them as a proxy for long-term investments (instead of physical precious metals) because of counterparty default risk: ETNs are not backed up by physical metal.
