Junior Stocks and their cash reserves

December 20, 2008, 12:00 PM Przemysław Radomski , CFA

(...) Thank you for your feedback, appreciate it. Is there any way of finding out which juniors have enough cash on hand and in the bank to fund their operations? And which juniors are liable to go by the wayside due to being strapped for cash and are unable to go to the market to raise money? Are there any websites that offer this information? I visited a number of company websites to review their balance sheet, and the majority of information with respect to cash in the bank, assets, etc. was from March, 2008.

You can try calling them and asking but that might not work. Companies are required to report their earnings and other information on certain (fixed) dates for example March 2008. This data needs to be verified by an auditing company which takes some time and is costly. Therefore companies do it only when they really have to. Even if they decided to put this information on their website and update if very often, it would have to be unaudited (or unconfirmed), as this is a time-consuming process. That's why I doubt that this kind of information can be found. Companies may brag about their results or particular part of their balance sheet ('We've got 10 million in the bank!') from time to time, but since not all of them do so and the information is not unified, it is not comparable.
