Rafael Zorabedian, Stock Trading Strategist
Greetings, my name is Rafael Zorabedian. As part of Sunshine Profits’ analysis group, I bring with me over two decades of technical analysis experience combined with fundamental reasoning, to provide opinions and commentary on market trends. I contribute regular analyses to the.
In my college days, I had an Aha! moment that would change my life forever. At 19 years old, I was watching the financial news, seeing the markets moving, the prices changing, and simply wondering: "What’s making these prices change so fast?" That’s exactly where my journey began – with wonder, amazement, and curiosity.
I then found myself absorbing as much knowledge and information as possible. I’m a
research sponge to begin with – and I was quickly going down this newfound rabbit hole. At this time, I was gorging on what the greats and legends had to say about trading psychology and market theory. Edwin Lefèvre’s Reminiscences of a Stock Operator is an informative read about Jesse Livermore and market psychology. Mark Douglas' Trading in the Zone as well as books by Jack D. Schwager and Paul Tudor Jones all amazed me, and I highly recommend them.
I developed a different perspective and view on the world we live in, as everything seemed to stem from the conditions of the financial markets. The gasoline I was buying, the rent I was paying, the steak I bought at the supermarket – all of it! Watching the news and keeping up with the latest market reports was informative and provided knowledge, but what made the prices change? Obviously, it was supply and demand at the core, but there had to be more. That’s where technical analysis came into play for me.
Countless hours of research, reading, and learning by trial and error brought me to using technical analysis and tools in chart reading – namely Fibonacci retracements/extensions, RSI, MACD, moving averages, and volume/momentum trends, just to name a few.
After my initial crude self-education period, I worked in the securities industry helping financial advisors execute orders. Ultimately, I began working as a futures and options broker, and it was during my work in the futures markets when I honed in on my already existing skills and brought them to a higher level. I engaged in much trading across several markets – the S&P 500, Bonds, Crude Oil, Gasoline, Currencies, Heating Oil, Gold, Silver, Coffee, Sugar, Cocoa, Cotton, and more. The primary emphasis was on the S&P 500. This period of time was unique, as pit trading was making the shift to fully electronic trading. I used to call down to the S&P 500 trading pit to get orders filled!
During this experience I amassed a great deal of knowledge, and my goal is to share with and deliver that knowledge to you via the. Currently, there is a , and I’m analyzing indices, commodities, and ETFs. Hopefully, you can utilize some of the lessons I’ve learned, so that you too can analyze the markets more efficiently while minimizing some execution pitfalls and trading psychology miscues that are seemingly boring for everyone.
Besides my passion for the markets, I enjoy baseball – and miss playing it (now it’s only softball and watching it on TV!), travel, personal development, cooking, and abstract art.
